Holiday Appeal

Dear Members and Friends, 

The holiday season is upon us once again, and I hope you’ll remember the UU Church in Meriden as you go about your holiday shopping and giving.  The volunteers who work in the church office helping all of us by handling Sunday offerings, checking on correspondence, updating our databases, managing our finances, and other necessary administrative tasks are in desperate need of updated office technology.  

We need to raise $3,500.00 to purchase a new all-in-one desktop computer, a large computer monitor, a webcam, a printer, and a workstation.   Our congregation is growing and given the recent election results we need technology that reduces time on tasks, enables us to be nimble, quick to communicate, and efficient administrators. 

Our office computer requires over five full minutes to boot up. When a volunteer comes in to update our database or check our email, they wait over five minutes for the computer to start, load the operating system, and load the software application they need to do their work.  Some volunteers need to adjust our monitor’s display, so the text is big enough for them to read. We’d like to get them a large screen that’s easy on the eyes.  

We are not renewing the lease on our large corporate office-style copier and the only other working printer we have is old, out of date, and slow. We do not have a webcam in the office, and we’d like to replace our old, large, clunky metal office desk with a modern office workstation designed for computer technology.

2.  Use our website, uumeriden.org click  the "DONATE" button and select "Holiday Appeal" from the drop-down menu.  

3. Mail a check to the UU Church in Meriden at 328 Paddock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450 memo: “Holiday Appeal.”

4.  If you’re feeling generous and ambitious, you can purchase one or more of the items on our volunteers’ wish list directly from Amazon. 

We have dedicated, tireless volunteers and we need to help them out by getting them better tools to work within the church office. Please be a Holiday Hero and give what you can to the Holiday Appeal.   Thank you for your generous support!
