People sometimes ask what they can do to help our immigrant neighbors. Here is a list that was put out by Shoreline Indivisible with ways people can help.
1. Connect Locally
Find immigrant‑led groups in your area and plug in. Follow their calls to action and show up. Here are a few:
New Britain- Manos Unidas…New Haven - Unidad Latina en Accion…New Haven - New Haven Immigrants Coalition ... Danbury/Statewide - CT Students for a Dream… Stamford Make the Road…Hartford - Hartford Deportation Defense…Danbury - Danbury Unites for Immigrants…Norwalk - Stamford Norwalk United for Immigrants…Stamford - Building One Community…Lakeville- Vecinos Seguros 2…Middletown- Middlesex Immigrant Rights Alliance
2. Get Trained
Learn how to support your neighbors during ICE raids. “Know Your Rights” trainings are everywhere- videos, webinars, and in person—jump in and get prepared. One great source is
www.ctimmigrants.org. Another is
www.NILC.org.
3. Speak Up
When you see discrimination, shut it down. Your voice creates safer spaces.
4. Back Immigrant‑Led Groups- Donate time, skills, or resources.
These amazing groups not only support and protect against ICE violations- they fight for fair labor, housing, and dignity every day.
5. Show Up at Events
Press conferences, rallies, vigils, community gatherings-your presence builds visibility, joy, and solidarity.
6. Amplify Voices
Share immigrant stories and achievements. Use your platform to lift others.
7. Push for Better Policies
Contact your reps. Support laws that protect immigrants and ensure fairness. This is our community. Check in with immigrant led groups before campaigning for a law.
8. Join Rapid Response Teams*- see list below for some training options
Be part of a trained network ready to safely witness and document ICE activity.
9. Offer Court Support*
Accompany neighbors to court so they aren’t targeted alone. Solidarity builds community.
10. Vote.
Important motto- “Nothing about us without us.”
Reach out- network. Create Community.

Help Needed for Ongoing Research for CT Infrastructure:
Help us build our Faith Leader database by creating and sending email lists of clergy to
charla3@aol.com.
How? Search a specific geographic area (Danbury, Torrington- whichever CT town/city you like) – make a list of all faith communities- churches, mosques, synagogues – research contact information-group name, email address, cell phone. This is usually a few steps- many faith groups have a social media presence but not a website. We are inviting faith groups to learn more about immigrants and participate in support as needed.
